Ben Tunny Wins Rain Delayed Event at Anderson; Third Winner in Opening Three Series Events

Ben Tunny used lapped traffic to his advantage to capture the Saturday, July 26, rain-delayed Winged Outlaw Figure 8 Series (WOFS) event at Anderson Speedway.

The night's racing action was postponed for over 90 minutes when rain showers interrupted the racing action. The night's racing action also featured the JEGS/CRA All Star tour. When rain interrupted the racing program, only 42 of the scheduled 100 laps of the CRA race had been completed. Once the rain subsided, Anderson Speedway officials quickly got the track dried so the racing action could continue.

The night began when RJ Norton Jr. set quick time with a lap of 17.202 seconds around the ¼ mile, high banked figure 8 coarse.

The top eight cars were inverted for the 50-lap feature and Shawn Cullen and Jeff Shackleford found themselves comprising the front row. Shackleford lead the opening lap before surrendering the lead back to Cullen. A hard charging Chris Green grabbed the top spot on lap three, and would lead the next 37 laps, with Ben Tunny lurking behind. Tunny used lapped traffic to take the lead on lap 41 after Green got held up by a lapped car. Tunny would then cruise to his first career WOFS victory.  Full Story

RJ Norton Dominates July 4th Event at Anderson Speedway

Indianapolis driver R. J. Norton Jr. is no stranger when it comes to winning Outlaw Figure-8 racing at Anderson Speedway. Norton captured the Winged Outlaw Figure 8 Series (WOFS) feature event Friday night.

Norton led all 50 laps on July 4 before a packed grandstand to win at the local track for the 12th time since 1989.

It seemed like every time Norton opened a comfortable lead there was a caution flag that bunched up the pack.

While Norton was running out front Ben Tunny and Michael Hadley Jr. were waging a battle for the second spot, swapping the position several times in the middle stages of the 50-lap feature event.   Full Story
